The light of education must reach all not withstanding the age or the gender. This implies fully when it comes to women education. Women who have multiple roles in the family from cooking, caring and even bread earning. Women are every where in the fields, at home and yet nowhere. When it comes to decision-making even within the family, women are brushed aside referred as inferior, or a know nothing. Here, educating the women can play a vital role in uplifting their decisions and roles within the family and the society.
The Women Literacy Class of Bikalpa, has been able to literate around four hundred women since its inception three years ago. It runs everyday for two hours with three classes. Women in and around the area come to attend the women literacy class. The women are taught to read and write and do simple arithmetic
Stella Tamang, stressing on the importance of education said: "It is indeed a great opportunity for women to be able to read and write at this time. A proverb goes if a woman is literate the whole family is literate, hence today it has become a need for women to be literate so that she can take active parts in decision making within the family as well as in the society. The benefit of women literacy has been able to pave a path for many other women to gain education."
